Look at the amazing challenge my friend Kelda is doing!
In December 2018, the Row to Raise campaign aims to inspire hundreds of young people when Kelda Wood attempts to solo row the Atlantic as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
Kelda’s taking on the 3,000 mile challenge with the aim of raising hope in young people facing physical or mental trauma, and to raise awareness about relevant support available.
Each day she’s on the ocean she’ll be rowing for a different young person, sharing their stories and links to relevant charities and organisations that provide support.
Charities such as The Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Care UK, Limb power and Help for Heroes will be nominating people for Kelda to row for and helping to create a network of support.
As a result, we hope to reach many young people that are currently feeling isolated and alone, give them hope, inspire them to contact support networks and begin to move forwards. This campaign really will make a difference!
Kelda also aims to raise over £50,000 for Climbing Out, the charity she set up in 2010 that runs 5 day outdoor activity programmes aimed at rebuilding confidence and self esteem in young people facing life changing injury, illness or trauma. You can see more about Climbing Out at http://climbingout.org.uk/ Kelda says “I’ve been on a huge journey myself since my own life changing injury in 2002: a journey that’s included being a member of the GB Paracanoe Squad, setting up the charity Climbing Out, and summiting Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America. I now want to support others to find the same confidence and self belief that I’ve found through my journey... and that’s why I’m going to row the Atlantic!” R2R -
